📚 Mz. Marianna’s Academy Policies & Procedures
Access to Student Records
The following individuals have access to student records: the Records Management Team, administrative staff, educational coaches, secretarial team, the parent or guardian of the student, the eligible student, and other persons authorized in writing by the parent or guardian. In situations where a parent does not have legal custody, the Director will presume the parent still has the right to access student records unless a legally-binding court order stating otherwise is provided to the Academy.
Right to Contest Records
Parents or legal guardians have the right to contest or appeal the content in their child's records. This includes the ability to request corrections, additions, or the removal of any inaccurate, misleading, or inappropriate information.
Release of Student Discipline Records
In accordance with FERPA, Mz. Marianna’s Academy may release student discipline or education records—without written consent—to approved agencies under interagency agreements with the Department of Juvenile Justice, law enforcement, or education partners when appropriate. The purpose of this information sharing is to improve student safety, reduce suspensions, and support educational completion through coordinated services and interventions.
Zero Tolerance for School-Related Violence & Cyberbullying
To ensure a safe, respectful, and focused learning environment, Mz. Marianna’s Academy enforces a Zero Tolerance Policy for violent behavior and cyberbullying during live classes, online sessions, or asynchronous platforms (such as Skool or Zoom).
Any of the following actions may result in immediate removal from our programs and a referral to law enforcement:
-
Bringing, using, or threatening to use a weapon during a virtual or in-person Academy activity
-
Harassment or bullying of students, staff, or guests
-
Severe or repeated acts of cyberbullying or hate speech
Cyberbullying offenses are handled in this progressive discipline order:
-
Initial Warning
-
Final Warning
-
Temporary Suspension
-
Removal from all courses (no refund)
Parents agree to these policies upon enrolling. Reinstatement or future enrollment may be considered on a case-by-case basis by the Academy Director. Students with disabilities will be handled in accordance with state and federal guidelines.
Technology and Telecommunication Policy
Students must use technology responsibly and respectfully during all sessions. The following apply:
-
Telecommunication Devices include any tool used to capture, send, or receive text, images, or audio (e.g., phones, tablets, laptops).

Sexting, including the sending or storing of sexually explicit images or messages on any device, is strictly prohibited on school platforms.
-
Cyberbullying, including threatening, hostile, or defamatory messages or posts, is not tolerated on or off school hours if it affects the safety or performance of other students or staff.
Use of devices in class should:
-
Never disrupt learning or privacy
-
Not be used to share inappropriate content
-
Not be used to cheat or engage in academic dishonesty
Discipline
Maintaining a positive, respectful, and academically focused environment is the shared responsibility of all Mz. Marianna’s Academy team members. Tutors, executive functioning coaches, and instructors are responsible for addressing classroom behavior and upholding our community expectations. Administration will address ongoing or severe concerns and determine next steps, including removal or further disciplinary action.

Mz. Marianna’s Academy courses follow state-aligned standards for each subject and grade level. Curriculum content is built to reflect high expectations, literacy integration, and accommodations for diverse learning needs including ADHD, Autism, and Dyslexia.

AI and Innovation Policy
Mz. Marianna’s Academy supports responsible and creative use of AI tools for brainstorming, learning support, and idea generation. Students may use AI under teacher guidance to enhance writing, vocabulary, or research—but not to replace original thought.
Any misuse, such as copying AI responses as personal work without understanding, will be treated as academic dishonesty.
We encourage students to explore technology with curiosity and integrity.
